While at the WonderCon in San Francisco, Slashfilm did some A+ detective work and made a significant discovery. The convention program carried an interesting tease that features the classic Ghostbusters logo and the words “something exciting is coming to the neighborhood!” “Look for the big announcement at Comic Con San Diego 2008.” First thought was that this was for the video game... but when they looked closer they discovered a little logo that said "Sony Pictures Home Entertainment"! Our main guess would be that this is for the direct-to-DVD CGI sequel once titled "Hellbent" that has been rumored for years - and even already has a script written - or it could be as simple as Sony announcing a special Blu-Ray release to coincide with the release of the game. Hopefully someone will break the news, otherwise we'll find out come July!
I don't think a blu-ray announcement is monumental enough to have to wait until SDCC...there's something else up here. I'm guessing 'Hellbent' as well.
It'd be exciting if it were the entire first season of Real Ghostbusters before which feature Lorenzo Music.
Seriously, the "Home Entertainment" brand slapped onto it doesn't exactly put me into high spirits (pun shamelessly intended).
Their is no announcement. The ad says "something exciting is coming." An OXM Podcast revealed that the Ecto 1 is going to be at Comic Con along with a playable demo of the Ghostbusters game. The CGI movie has been dumped in favor of the game because it is suppose to play out the Hellbent story line. Real Ghostbusters the complete series is coming to dvd in October thanks to Time Life. And finally Ghostbusters 1 and 2 is coming to Blue Ray in October.
