From what I understand, star Bill Murray was one of the main factors holding back a third GHOST BUSTERS film from happening. The reason given was the amount of money it would take to pay him, which is a load of crap considering the movies he has been in as of late. Last night at AICN's Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, Murray was on hand to talk about CITY OF EMBER, which closed the festival. During the Q+A session with the ex-Ghostbuster, he revealed some really, really interesting stuff, which leads me to believe that I should be charging my proton pack...
You will all be happy to know that Ghostbusters 3, or G3 as we like to call it will definitely be in the "spirit" of the original film.
Those worried about spoilers stop reading right now...
At the start of the third film the Ghostbusters team is still in full operation and really has the ghost population under control. There is a new character who is desperately trying to become a member of the Ghostbusters team, the first choice for the part is Seth Rogen. He is a horror movie fan, and a knowledgeable person on the occult who happens to claim to be able to comunicate telepathicaly with the dead, even see them. So naturally he wants to be part of the team and use his gift to be a Ghostbuster. But they decline.
The beginning of the film is about the Ghostbusters going on their last job. Not because they are going to retire, but because they all get killed on this job by a malevolent evil spirit.
Luckily for them, Seth Rogen's character will stop at nothing to solve the mystery surrounding their death. Luckily for him, the Ghostbusters team aren't just dead, but are now ghosts themselves.
It is then up to him to start a new Ghostbusters team and stop the evil force and possibly even the original Ghostbusters team as well. The film really reflects the original in so many ways, and this is just as funny as the first film. The new team and how Seth's character gets them to be the new Ghostbusters is great stuff. Fans are really going to love it. And the ending really puts the series to a place where it can finally rest in peace.
Even though there definitely could be a part 4, this is being written as a film to wrap up the series and bring it to an end that really pays off the story and ideas from the original film. The idea is to let Murray and the gang look over the final draft and approve of it and make any changes they want before shooting to make sure that the film is on the right track here. But I really believe that it is.
Another things fans might want to really get excited about, they can thank the success of the new Terminator TV series for...The deal is getting finalized for a new hour long, live action Ghostbusters TV show.
The show takes place between Ghostbusters 2 and 3 and recasts the original Ghostbusters team as they take on a new job every week. Basically the idea is to give the audience a new hour long Ghostbusters movie every week. I think it is a great idea and has the capacity to have a long run. There are a lot of really great ideas for what you can do with a Ghostbusters TV show in vein of how the Terminator franchise was brought to TV.
Ghostbusters 2 was good. The thing I don't get about it was how could they be washed up in the begining of the second one? In the first they blew up a Marshmallow man the size of a skyscraper, and oh yeah THEY PROVED GHOST EXIST!!! How could the mass public forget that so quickly? I know a lot of crazy shit happens in Newyork, but I don't think people could forget something like that.
As much as I would love another Ghostbusters movie,I just can't get over how Bill is moving in this video. You know how old ppl move and talk, that's how he is doing here. This might have been a great idea 10 years ago cause the age factor wouldn't have gotten in the way to much but now its hard to get over for me.Don't get me wrong,I will still see this when it comes out but its just hard for me to get over after seeing him now.But you never know they might put all their specail effects into making all the ghostbusters look younger kinda like in X3.I just hope they hurry and do it before people start changing their minds again.
thats awesome that he would probably do a 3rd movie.
check out this fan-art of ghostbusters 3, looks awesome!...

The video game is not cancelled anymore. A new company has picked up the rights. They havent said who yet but its coming out in 2009. It was in this months gameinformer magazine.
I would love to see those actors all together again. And yes...people get older...get over it! They're not dead for petes sake! Though it would be a kinda cool spin if THEY were the ghosts...grin!
how useless, now we know Bill liked the first movie and it was "fun to do". Thats tells us soooo much about G3. Thanks Mr. Disgusting. ::sigh::
