Last week B-D stringer Tammy Sutton caught up with Twilight (review) director Catherine Hardwicke, who reveals plans for the DVD and Blu-ray release early next year. All the details can be found beyond the break. The film is about a high school girl named Bella falls in love with a vampire. The new couple leads a rival vampire clan to pursue them and attempt to force her to decide if she, too, wishes to become one of the undead.

Twilight's FX have loads of people talking, and wondering how they are going to pull off the crucial “sparkle” moment in the film.

For those of you not familiar with the series, when a vampire is hit by sunlight, it does not kill them, but it makes their skin “sparkle”. We know how weird this sounds, but millions of fans will be able to voice their opinions on the sparkle effect when the film hits theaters this Friday.

Mainstream press cannot seem to put out enough info on the film to keep the rabid fans satisfied. At a press conference last week director Catherine Hardwick spilled some details about she hopes to change for the DVD release.

"I’ve seen the sparkle scene on Blu-ray, and it looks really great. I was worried how that would translate." Not entirely satisfied with the results of the sparkle effect tests she saw from several FX facilities, Hardwick decided to take matters into the best possible hands, ILM, and is hoping that they go back in and take advantage of the Blueray technology.

"We are looking into to going back to ILM and pushing that scene a little further for the Blu-ray disc. We have about a dozen deleted or extended scenes to put on the DVD, and I made a couple crazy montages of all the times the vampires kiss or attack someone and of all the human hijinx, and I’ve done a visual remix of the movie for the DVD also."

I'm not a Twilight fan, but I do understand that there are different types of films for different audiences and I don't complain about it when it doesn't fit my needs. Technically they're vampires. 90210 vampires. But vampires nevertheless. So, that's somewhat horror. Bloody-Disgusting also covered Prom Night. I'd rather see Twilight than watch the Prom Night remake.

	Insomnia 2:37am, November 22, 2008 PROFILE - MESSAGE - REPORT Hope the quality of the film looks better in blue ray than it did in the theatre. They filmed in such a beautiful location, but whatever cameras they used to film it didn't capture the beauty, in my opinion.
